OCR: AM/FM "Chariots of Fire" by Vangelis Stored on this disk both as Music-X Performance file and Standard MIDI file. AM/FM 'Chariots of Fire' (Title Theme) Composed by Vangelis (c) 1981 Title music from the movie 'Chariots of Fire' (c) 1981, 1987 Spheric B.V./Warner Bros Arranged for Music-X and MIDI by Gareth R.Craft & Kevan R. Craft September 1992 For AM/FM Amiga Musicians Freeware Magazine and Readers The music of 'Chariots of Fire' is in the 'MIDIFiles' directory and has been archived/crunched, using PowerPacker V3.0b and therefore, both files possess a dot extention. These packed files have to be unpacked or patched using the 'PP' (PowerPacker Patcher) utility which is made resident in the 'c' directory. This utility enables the Amiga to load packed files and can even load them into Music-X. 'PP' can be found in the 'c' directory on this disk. (Read the PowerPacker Patcher document included) The two files of 'Chariots of Fire' included are:- 'ChariotsOfFire.MX.pp' = Musix-X, PowerPacked 'ChariotsOfFire.MIDI.pp' = MIDI file format 1, PowerPacked (Generic format, MIDI sequencer compatable) The Music-X version of 'Chariots of Fire' contains PGM (Program) data and CTL (Control data). The music consists of 8 parts each contained within a separate sequence. Here's the order listing of the separate sequence numbers and parts of 'Chariots of Fire' within Music-X :- Sequence Number Sequence Part 10 Keyboard part 1 (Bell Tree) (Horn Section) 20 Keyboard part 2 30 Keyboard part 3 35 40 Keyboard part 4 Keyboard part 5 Keyboard part 6 Keyboard part 7 (Upper String Section) (Lower String Section) (Solo Piano 1) (Solo Piano 2) (Synth Bass) (Percussion) 45 50 60 Keyboard part 8 'Chariots of Fire' was originally scored using The Roland D-110 and the MIDI set up and Voices used are as follows:- Part MIDI Channel Voice Program No No of Partials 1 2 Celeste 1 23 3 2 3 Hornz 2 87 3 3 4 Deep Strings 68 4 4 5 Slow Strings 65 4 5 6 Acoustic Piano 1 01 3 6 7 Elec Piano 2 05 3 ? 8 Sax 3 2 59 D#2 (r39) 8 10 Claps (echo) 1 Total 23 The tempo setting is 75 and each separate parts volumes are controlled employing the velocity method as too is the MIDI delay/echo effect on the percussion track (Claps). The MIDI version of 'Chariots of Fire' was converted from Music-X using the Music-X to MIDI converter on the Music-X utilities disk. This MIDI version has been tested using a real crappy sequencer by Gadjets called 'Sequencer One' which possesses a MIDI import facility and this successfully loaded the MIDI data into the said Co sequencer software. Being a generic MIDI file in format 1, this file Socce should, in theory anyway, be able to be downloaded to an Amiga based sequencer which supports MIDI or downloaded to a Hardware based sequencer such as Roland's MIDI Sound Canvas or a Keyboard with an onboard seqeuncer. The MIDI data should also be compatable for a PC or any other computer by using a 'Cross Dos' facility or suitable bridging file converter.
